30/08/2018 - 6 themes updated

This month, six themes were been updated with the latest available figures

During the month of August, the theme “Public finance” was extended and six other themes were updated.

NEW!

The theme “Public finance” was revised. New tables on the Public finance of the Communities and Regions were added. These tables have been divided into two categories:

  • 1. The non-financial accounts for general government (NAI):
    • Financing balance (2010-2017);
    • Breakdown of revenue by economic event (2010-2017);
    • Breakdown of expenditure by economic event (2010-2017);
    • Breakdown of expenditure by function (2010-2016).
       
  • 2. Gross debt (NAI):
    • Gross debt (2010-2017).
       

The methodology that was used to compile these statistics is also available.

Also, you will find the Regional economic outlooks - Accounts of the Communities and Regions table under the theme “Public finance”. It covers the 2010 - 2023 period and can also be consulted under the theme “Economy”.

 

UPDATES

Under the theme “Labour market”, the 2017 Labour Force Survey (LFS) data were added to the tables regarding Working-age population, Working population and Employment characteristics - Type of contract tables. The Working population - Self-employed and Working population - Wage-earning employees (by place of residence) tables were updated with the 2017 figures, as supplied by the NISSE and the NSSO respectively. Finally, the Domestic employment - Employment in the local public sector tables now also include the 2017 figures.

Under the theme “Population”, the 2018 statistics were added to the Age structure tables. The Movement of the population tables were updated with the 2017 figures. Furthermore, the Population by age group on 1 January and the Average age of the population on 1 January indicators, which you can find under Key figures by municipality, were updated with the 2013 and 2018 data.

Under the theme “Environment and Energy”, the 2017 statistics were added to the following tables:

  • Environment and society - Waste collections by Bruxelles Propreté;
  • Environment and society - Number of environment-related offences recorded;
  • Energy - Supply of gas and electricity to the municipalities.
     

In that same theme, the summary tables of the Brussels energy balance sheet now also include the 2016 figures.

Under the theme “Mobility and Transport”, the 2017 figures were added to the following tables:

  • Collective transport and shared mobility - Number of railway passengers;
  • Collective transport and shared mobility - Brussels Airport passengers by type of traffic;
  • Collective transport and shared mobility - Top 10 destinations for Brussels Airport passengers;
  • Freight transport - Air cargo transport at Brussels Airport;
  • Mobility practices - Commutes.
     

Also in that theme, the tables about Mobility practices - driving licences were updated with the 2016 and 2017 figures, while the Vehicles and road network - Vehicles and travellers per kilometres driven on the Belgian road network tables were updated with the 2016 figures.

The 2017 statistics were added to the Number of hotel establishments tables, which you can find under the theme “Tourism and Culture”, while the 2011-2016 figures were revised. In addition, the methodology used to count the number of hotels and their capacity was adjusted: henceforth, the count will start in the month of August instead of December, as was the case in the past.
