Traffic congestion and the environmental concerns surrounding cars are at the centre of public debate. Car ownership is the basis for automotive mobility. In the Brussels region, one in two households owns a car. But who are these households?

As car ownership often leads to greater usage of cars, BISA Focus no. 32 analyses the characteristics of households in Brussels that own – or do not own – a car, in order to shed new light on the debate around the place of cars in cities.
