What was the average disposable income per inhabitant in the Brussels-Capital Region in 2016?

Brussels Institute for Statistics and Analysis (BISA) - Did you know? - 10/04/2019

Answer: 17,590 EUR/year

On average, a Brussels resident therefore has an income of 17,590 euros per year at their disposal.

The disposable income is the sum of income from work (salaries, self-employed income, etc.), income from assets (rent, dividends, interest, etc.) and social benefits (pensions, unemployment benefit, etc.) minus social contributions and direct tax.

In 2016, the disposable income per inhabitant in the Brussels-Capital Region was equal to that of the Walloon Region. The disposable income per inhabitant in the Flemish Region is however much higher, with 20,618 euros per year.
