In 2016, which share of the European Quarter’s inhabitants resided there for less than 5 years?

Brussels Institute for Statistics and Analysis (BISA) - Did you know? - 27/11/2019

Answer: 71.4%

As at 1 January 2016, 71.4% of European Quarter inhabitants had been living in the neighbourhood for less than 5 years. It was the neighbourhood with the highest share of new inhabitants.

The population of Brussels is growing year after year. However, the number of new Brussels residents is even greater than the net increase in the population, due to the fact that there are abundant inflows and outflows of inhabitants. The neighbourhoods with high proportions of new inhabitants are not necessarily those with the greatest increases in population.
